The Invisible Beauty Beyond JWST Recent Images with Salem Emara, NASA JPL Solar System Ambassador
Wednesday, April 26 - 10:00 am - ART 144
JWST (James Webb Space Telescope), NASA's flagship observatory for the next decade, is poised to support the scientific community and astrophysicists in exploring and observing the early universe. During the presentation, attention will be drawn towards several recent discoveries made by JWST pertaining to the early universe.
Salem Emara is a NASA JPL solar system ambassador. He is Senior Director of Engineering with a semiconductor start-up company. Throughout his career in engineering, he has led and delivered multiple groundbreaking technologies and projects. Salem's interests include signal processing, digital imaging, astronomy, and physics. His passion is to promote science and technology to both science interest groups and the general public.

Solid-State Metal-Rich Materials: Crystal Structures and Chemical Bonding with Joyce Pham, PhD,
Assistant Professor of Chemistry, California State University, San Bernardino
Thursday, April 27 – 4:00 pm – PS 135
The Solid-State Chemistry Phamily research group at Cal State San Bernardino focuses on discovering new metal-rich materials with specific emphasis on elucidating structural and chemical-bonding features in these extended solids. This seminar discusses some of the previous and ongoing projects of Professor Pham and undergraduate students. It will touch upon synthesis from high temperatures, solving crystal structures, and using chemistry principles to rationalize interatomic interactions. There will also be time for students to inquire about the professional trajectory of the speaker. |
